Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Image
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla set is live. I wasn't too sure initially about this game. But as I continued through the story it began growing on me. I don't know if I can say with confidence it's my favorite modern AC game.. but it's definitely yet another step in the right direction for Ubisoft.

No Man's Sky: Next Generation

Image
No Man's Sky: Next Generation set is now live! I love that this game still gets love and Hello Games hasn't given up on their initial vision - and as a result seeing it become a reality with each new update. This particular update has made the graphical side of things improve.  Enjoy!

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order 2020 Revisit

Image
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order 2020 Revisit is live.  The goal for this revisit was initially to go through the environments again and capture them in native 4K. Running short on time has led to postpone that particular revisit for a future set. So this set focuses more on NPC characters and environments from the meditation simulation mode. Hope you enjoy!

EVE Online 2020 Revisit

Image
EVE Online 2020 Revisit is live! Wow what an improvement this game has experienced graphically since 2012. The lighting, the ships, the stations ( especially the new Jita Station ), and the stargates - all so beautiful. I hope to really dive deeper in a future revisit and capture a better perspective of how everything has changed.

Mirror's Edge 2020 Revisit

Image
Mirror's Edge 2020 Revisit is live. I initially explored and took shots of this game in 2011 - 9 years ago. I love how, while the game's environments have aged, they still hold up gracefully in 2020. This was a very quick revisit. Just running around and seeing what I could manage to capture again. The tricks I used back in 2011 didn't work now, so this was just turning off the HUD and trying to not get shot by the npc cops! Enjoy!

Final Fantasy XV 2020 Revisit

Image
Final Fantasy XV 2020 Revisit is live. This game is lonnnngggg and I hope to revisit this game again to a greater extent in the future. This revisit's goal was to literally revisit areas that I had taken shots of in 2018. Unfortunately it didn't really pan out as I had planned since Nvidia Ansel wasn't working for this game for me.  So I did my best to work with the first person view and noHUD options. Hopefully Ansel will work again for this game when I do another revisit. Anyhow - enjoy!

RAGE 2

Image
RAGE 2 set now live. I was unfortunately having tons of graphical issues with this game but what was working was super fun. Love the vehicles! Anyhow here is some shots from my initial experience of Rage 2.  Enjoy!

The Witness

Image
The Witness set is now live. What a colorful environment! Unfortunately Nvidia Ansel wasn't working so I couldn't get resolutions greater than native 4K. Nevertheless, hope you enjoy these.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Image
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is now live. Such a lovely game.. I completed the story a year ago and have been waiting for awhile now to get native 4K shots. Finally got around to it recently and here are just a few I personally enjoyed.

Control

Image
Control set is live! Very beautiful game by Remedy. Wish I had more time to dive deeper into Control this time around - but something to look forward to in the inevitable revisit!

Flight Simulator

Image
Flight Simulator is live! Wish I could continue exploring this game but I've been running into patch update issues. I'll revisit sometime in the future though.

Horizon Zero Dawn now live.

Image
A small Horizon Zero Dawn set has been released on the website. I unfortunately was expecting a lot more from this game and I quickly realized it wasn't living up to that expectation. So while I didn't go very far in this game, I did manage to get a few shots before I refunded the game.  Hope you enjoy my very brief adventure into the Horizon Zero Dawn

A Plague Tale Innocence set now live.

Image
A Plague Tale: Innocence set is live . Attempting to get in a bunch of games prior to Cyberpunk's release in December. Expect to see a lot more sets going live during the course of November! (Including AC:Valhalla near the end of November / Early December). To begin this roll out of many sets, here is the "A Plague Tale: Innocence" set. Hope you enjoy!

Death Stranding set on website!

Image
Death Stranding in all it's native 4K glory is now up on the website. Enjoy ! I'm not going to write a lot about this game.. but this was easily my game of the year. I LOVED this experience. With everything that has been happening this year.. this game hit so deeply.  A true modern gaming masterpiece. Thank you Hideo Kojima!!

PhotoWorld China Issue #451

Image
Photoworld China Issue #451 Taking a brief moment to announce that I was interviewed for the Chinese magazine PhotoWorld about my eight year journey through in-game photography. I also provided an overview of it’s origin, where it is now, and where it could be heading. Lastly I did my best to define what we do on both the console side of things with the use of photo modes and the PC side with using tools such as injectors, cheat engine tables, and Nvidia Ansel. I was featured alongside Eron Rauch, Zhao Chen, and Guo Yuqing who go into different aspects of photography and it’s relationship to video games respectively. In closing, I’m so honored to have been given the opportunity to have my shots exposed to an audience of China. I hope they enjoy my work and find in-game photography fascinating! My shots that were featured in this issue include Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2, Bioware’s Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect Andromeda, CCP Games’ EVE Online, Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyr...

Photographies: Volume 11, 2018 - Issue 2-3

Image
PHOTOGRAPHIES: VOLUME 11, 2018 - ISSUE 2-3  A few months ago Professor Winfried Gerling of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam contacted me requesting permission to use some of my in-game photography shots in his upcoming, "Photography in the Digital" article. The focus of his writings would be on the history of photography in the digitized reality, through practices such as in-game photography and the screenshot. This article would be published within the latest volume of photographies, a yearly journal published by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group. I happily obliged for the use of the shots and by July 19th, 2018 his writings, along with the entire journal had been completed and published to be purchasable on Taylor & Francis Group's website. ABSTRACT Photography in the digitally created or digitized reality is an everyday activity that is rarely discussed in the context of photographic debates. This refers to practices such as in-game photography or, sim...

An introduction.

Image
AN INTRODUCTION Hi there!  My name is Joshua Taylor, I've been participating in the wonderful art of photography since 2007. Most of my experience comes from being self-taught and numerous trials and errors. I started off with a humble Canon A-Series point and shoot, and shortly after purchasing it, fell in love with photography by traveling to Western Europe for a month and capturing anything and everything that interested me. That's really where my story begins with photography. Fast forward to the present day, I've practiced in various genres of photography, worked on event and product photography for local businesses in the Richmond, Virginia area, experienced the highs and lows in SLR, DSLR, digital compact, and mobile camera use. Do I consider myself a good photographer? I don't have a degree in anything art related, but I’ll let you be the judge. Most notably, in 2011 I began down a rapidly growing road within video game culture called screenshotting or screensho...
